Question?

Shampoo & Scalp care

Because the scalp is skin, it should be cleansed

and completely dried every evening—

just as we care for the skin on our face.

Q. How often should I shampoo?

A. Every evening

For a healthy scalp, we recommend shampooing every evening and drying the scalp completely before bed. A clean, dry scalp creates the best foundation for healthy hair and makes next-day styling much easier.

If your hair is on the longer side, a treatment mask may work better than a regular conditioner—especially in hard-water areas like London—helping to maintain softness and manageability.

Before your evening shampoo, gently brushing your hair with a paddle brush can help remove surface dirt and provide a light scalp massage, supporting overall scalp comfort.

If you have scalp conditions such as psoriasis or eczema, please follow your doctor’s advice.

At Ikkar, we also recommend our head spa treatment for deeper scalp cleansing and hydration.
Even with a water softener, hard-water minerals and styling product build-up can accumulate over time, and a professional head spa helps keep the scalp clean, balanced, and healthy.

Hair Perm

Our Hair perm services are widely loved by many people and play a crucial role in achieving different types of desired looks. There are primarily two types of perms: heat perms, including setting perms and digital perms, and cold perms. The difference lies in how they create curls in the hair.

Q. Which perm should I book for the look I want?

A. This can be determined during your consultation.
The most important factors are the condition and quality of your hair, its density, and your everyday lifestyle and haircut. Once these are assessed, we can recommend the most suitable perm technique for your desired look.

Q. Is it possible to perm after bleaching?

A. Unfortunately, no.
Bleached hair cannot safely undergo a perm,

as the chemical combination would cause severe damage and compromise the final result.
Please book a pre-consultation if you’d like us to assess your hair and discuss alternatives..

Q. How long does the Perm Last?

A. This will depend on the condition of your Hair.

While a perm is permanent, hair roots growing out can lead to looser curls, and the strength of the curls can also affect how they hold up after a haircut. Generally, men may consider re-perming every 2-4 months, and women every 4-9 months

Colour

Q. Why is a patch test necessary?

A. A patch test is essential to check for any potential skin sensitivity or allergic reaction before your colour service.

Q. When should I perform a patch test?

A. 48 hours before your colour appointment.
This allows enough time to identify any adverse reaction and ensures your service can proceed safely.

Q. What is Tint?
A. A tint refers to a full-head permanent colour.

It adds the desired shade directly to the hair to create a natural, even finish.

Bleaching, on the other hand, removes the hair’s natural pigment first.

This allows us to achieve brighter colours and tones that a tint alone cannot create—

such as ashy, matte, or pastel shades—by applying the designed colour afterwards.

Q. What is Highlight?

A. Highlights are created by weaving selected strands and applying colour using foils.
This technique allows for natural dimension and brightness throughout the hair.

Q. If I want a full bleach, how many sessions will I need?

A. Please book a consultation.
We need to assess your current hair colour, history, and condition to determine the number of sessions required.
A patch test is also necessary to ensure your safety.
